Martin Haselböck

Conductor

 

Born 1954. As well as conductor and as organist he appears in music centers around the world. After studies in Vienna and Paris, he received numerous honours and awards. As organist he was dedicee of numerous important masters of our time (Alfred Schnittke, Cristobal Halffter, Gilbert Amy, a.o.) and has appeared as a soloist under Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Horst Stein among others.

 

1985 he founded the Wiener Akademie Ensemble. Following worldwide concert appearances as conductor of the Wiener Akadamie, and as guest conductor of numerous orchestras, such as the Vienna Symphony ("Wiener Symphoniker"), the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin ("Deutschen Symphonie-Orchester Berlin"), the Dresdner Philharmonic ("der Dresdner Philharmonie"), the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pittsburgh and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras, a.o. Since 2004 Martin Haselböck has been Music Director of the Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra in Los Angeles.

 

His over 80 recordings have won numerous distinctions, such as the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis, the Diapason d'Or and the Hungarian Liszt Prize.
As conductor of opera productions he worked with directors like Hans Gratzer, Marco Arturo Marelli, Christian Stückl, Philip Himmelmann and Michael Sturminger. Since 2000 Haselböck has led fourteen new productions at festivals in Salzburg, Schwetzingen, Vienna and in the opera houses of Hamburg, Hannover, Cologne und Halle. Since 2007 he has been artistic director of the Reinsberg Festival where he has gained prominence with productions of Freischütz, Fidelio and Hänsel and Gretel.
